As the Creative Programme Producer at Step into Dance, part of the Royal Academy of Dance, I recently organised a Hip Hop dance workshop to be delivered at Enact Youth Club and from the outset, it was clear what a brilliant space Enact truly is. Manju, Nathan, and the rest of the team are a testament to the club’s ethos, and to the incredible young people they work with.

Across both sessions, the young people brought a vibrant energy and total commitment to the workshop. They were enthusiastic, respectful, and fully engaged throughout. Paula, our practitioner, didn’t need to manage any behaviour because the group were so tuned in and receptive. They listened carefully, took direction well, and worked together to create a high-impact routine that they later performed for the rest of the youth club. The whole club came alive as the young people cheered each other on and encouraged their peers to shine.

One young person approached me afterwards to share that it was their first-ever dance class, which was remarkable, as their confidence and performance gave no hint of that. It was a powerful reminder of the impact a positive, well-supported environment can have.

I would 100% recommend working with Enact Youth Club. Their values, team, and young people make them a standout organisation, and I’m excited to continue building a positive relationship with them moving forward.
